1908 L.C. Smith & Corona #2How Early “Visible ”Typewriters Were Supposed to Look
While previous Smith Premier typewriters had stayed with the understrike approach, the L. C. Smith and Corona switched to a frontstrike visible system.
Overall this machine is in good condition except for the easily replaced missing ribbon spools.
Somewhere in the history of this machine the frame has been repainted. As you can see in the detailed photos, on some of the original painted-over decals on the bottom right side of the frame, the “No. 2” is still faintly visible.
The solid build of this historic machine is typical of the typewriters beginning to evolve in this time period.
